彩る世界の鉛姫

So you want to get into Namari Hime? No worries! This guide is here to help you! First off, let's ask the big questions, what is Namari Hime?

Lead Princess of the Colorless World (Japanese: 彩る世界の鉛姫, Hepburn: Irodoru Sekai no Namari Hime, typically shortened to Namari Hime) is a Vocaloid-based song and novel series created by Nyanyannya, with aditional illustrations from Yokanko. It is set in a fictional world called Kadoh-Anna-Ruk-A, which is loosely based on Kanagawa prefecture in Japan. Namari Hime is most well-known for the song Doctor=Funk Beat, which has amassed hundreds of thousands of views on Nico Nico Douga, achieving it a position in the “Vocaloid Hall of Fame.”

Namari Hime takes the format of a series of songs comprising a musical with several converging storylines. Vocals for the songs are provided by voicebanks associated with the vocal synthesis software Vocaloid! Characters in the series tend to draw inspiration from their corresponding Vocaloid voicebank. Namari Hime also includes several light novels, which greatly expand on the characters and stories introduced in the series’ music. The series is primarily written in Japanese, occasionally including recurring words and phrases from various other languages. The overarching story of Namari Hime is based on Nyanyannya’s original fairy tale of the same name, which you can read here!

Namari Hime takes place in a late-19th/early-20th century fantastical reconstruction of Kanagawa prefecture called Kadoh-Anna-Ruk-a, which is described as “the origin of the sky, far at the ends of the sea.” In this alternate universe, the Industrial Revolution wasn't driven by coal or oil, but rather a miraculous force called Cash (represented by the kanji 魂, “soul”). While Kadoh-Anna-Ruk-a features a wide range of locations, the empire of Arc-Jormu forms the main setting for much of the story.
